The developer of Bluecoins has a second app on Google Play: Travel,Tax & Tip Calculator — it shows on your home screen as simply Tip & Tax. It comes from Mabuhay Software — the same publisher as Bluecoins — and its 3.x release got the same ground-up rebuild treatment Bluecoins v13.0 went through: a complete rewrite with a fresh new look and a new blue receipt icon.

It is the calculator for the moment you pay:

• Tip and total as you type — enter the bill and see the tip and total update instantly.
• Sales tax in one tap — add it to the bill or remove it from a quoted total.
• A split for the whole table — fine controls for tip %, tax % and the number of people, and a live receipt showing the total and exactly what each person pays.
• Tipping customs for 50 countries — a searchable guide, so you know what to tip before you travel.
• Works offline, any currency — the whole calculator and guide need no connection, and plain numbers mean no currency setting to fiddle with.

The app is free and ad-supported, with one one-time purchase that removes ads for good. Travel,Tax & Tip Calculator on Google Play · its page on this site · privacy policy.

Simple, fast, and honest about your money — the same promise, in a smaller calculator.

The Bluecoins website has been rebuilt from the ground up — a modern home for the app, with the information you need to get the most out of it.

What’s new:

• A searchable guide — every topic, from transactions and budgets to credit cards and multi-currency, organized in one place with instant search.
• Settings docs — each screen in Settings explained, with the health advice and the details you’d otherwise tap around to find.
• Release notes — a changelog that stays current with every release, Android and iOS alike.
• FAQ — the questions people actually ask, answered.
• Better on any screen — light and dark themes, and a layout that works on tablets, wide screens, and everything in between.

The site is a companion to the app: guides, notes, and helpful information, kept true to the product. If a topic isn’t covered, the support email is always one tap away.

Bluecoins v13.1 made the app faster and more reliable, with fixes across reports, rates, and reminders.

The release focuses on speed and reliability:

• More bank notification support — more banks recognized for auto-logging.
• Transactions save instantly — no more waiting after tapping save.
• Net worth report shows negative values correctly — the report now handles negative balances properly.
• Report and Cash Flow date ranges stay put — changing filters no longer resets your date range or frequency.
• More reliable rates and sync — exchange rates and cloud sync hardened.
• Category display supports parent categories — see parent categories in the category display.
• Better layout on tablets and wide screens — the app adapts better to large displays.
• Net earnings keeps rows with activity — excluding zero amounts no longer hides rows that had activity in the compare period.
• Dashboard reports improved filtering — more precise filters on dashboard reports.
• Reminders: backdated start dates, no ghost headers — reminders can start in the past, and no more phantom date headers.

v13.1 is the current version of Bluecoins on Google Play.

On July 20, 2026, Bluecoins for iOS shipped v2.3 — the latest release of the iOS app and a step toward platform parity with Android.

The headline is database compatibility: the iOS schema now matches Android’s Room schema, so a Bluecoins database file opens on either platform — the same data, whichever device you use. Joining it are reminder auto-logging (matching what Android does) and iOS 26 fixes for the newest iPhone software.

The release also hardens data handling: nullable booleans and integers are normalized instead of stored as invalid values, the account-hidden flag defaults to visible, and null transaction values no longer crash or corrupt records.

This release is the first iOS entry in the changelog — the two platforms now update side by side.

On June 1, 2026, Bluecoins released v13.0 — a complete rebuild of the app, from the ground up. The goal was simple to state and hard to do: a faster, more modern experience that kept every feature people relied on. Nothing was grandfathered in; the app was rebuilt around the same core promise it has always kept — an incredibly simple finance app.

The rebuild showed up across the whole app:

• Faster everywhere — faster transaction loading and a smoother app overall.
• Read-only transaction mode — open transactions without the risk of accidental edits.
• Trash with permanent delete — deleted transactions can be recovered, then removed for good.
• Custom date ranges — pick an exact window for reports and the budget report, not just fixed periods.
• Smarter CSV import — more of the parsing decisions handled for you.
• More exchange-rate providers — including Kraken and VES, for multi-currency accounts.
• More reliable auto-backup — the cloud safety net, hardened.
• A new spend-summary widget — your spending at a glance on the home screen.

v13.0 was the first release of a rewritten codebase — the start of a new chapter for the app. Everything that has shipped since has come from that rebuild, and the v13 line continues to carry the same philosophy: simple, fast, and honest about your money.

“The moment is here” — that was the line that opened the December 2022 announcement, and it summed up a long wait. Bluecoins for iOS had arrived on the App Store, years after iOS topped the most-requested list and six months after the summer preview that let early users shape it.

The release was the fulfillment of that preview. Bluecoins for iOS shipped as a companion to the Android app, and the two platforms were designed to move together where it matters most — your data. The iOS app uses the same SQLite schema family as Android, and moving between platforms works through the formats Bluecoins users already knew: the backup file, CSV export and import, and the same cloud folder. The iOS app’s storage works with the same cloud folder you already use on Android.

The announcement was careful about what did not change. Android remained the primary platform and the app’s focus, and the app stayed free with no subscription — the iOS release was an addition, not a replacement.

Bluecoins for iOS is available on the App Store today.

In June 2022, Bluecoins took the first step toward iOS: a preview of the app was announced and opened for feedback. The announcement framed iOS as the most-requested version of Bluecoins — the question the FAQ had fielded for years — and the preview was its first real answer.

The preview was published through the App Store listing for Bluecoins, and the goal was stated plainly: let early users test the app and help shape it before the full release. The community’s feedback was treated as part of the build itself, not an afterthought.

The announcement was also careful about what stayed the same. Android remained the primary platform and the app’s focus, and the announcement repeated the model that had carried Bluecoins this far: the app stays free, with no subscription. The iOS companion app was an addition — an answer to the most-requested feature — not a replacement for Android.

The preview set up what came next. Six months later, in December 2022, the full iOS release arrived.

In July 2021, Bluecoins reached a milestone that few independently developed finance apps pass: one million downloads on Google Play. The announcement was short and full of gratitude — a thank-you to the users worldwide who made the milestone real.

Where that announcement marked one million downloads, the story has only grown since. Today the app is described with the same honest shorthand the site uses everywhere: 1M+ downloads on Google Play — deliberately imprecise, because the count keeps climbing and a fake-precise number would be wrong.

The road to one million started with recognition that put the app in front of new audiences: Google Play’s Editor’s Choice badge in 2018, and a CNN feature the same year. From there, users did the rest — the app stayed easy to recommend because it stayed simple: free with ads, no subscription, and a one-time Premium purchase for anyone who wanted an ad-free experience.

The one-million milestone was also a promise about the model. Bluecoins crossed seven figures of downloads while keeping its core deal unchanged — the app is free with ads, and Premium is a single one-time purchase, never a subscription.

In 2018, Google Play named Bluecoins an Editor’s Choice app. The badge is the Play Store’s curated recognition for apps that stand out — not a ranking, but an endorsement from Google’s own editors — and it put a small developer-built app in front of millions of shoppers who had never heard of it.

The same year brought a second, independent spotlight. In July 2018, CNN featured Bluecoins in a roundup of minimalist finance apps, describing it as “minimalist and efficient, with seamless syncing of data across devices…”. The quote captured the product philosophy that still defines the app: an incredibly simple finance app — an excellent expense tracker, budget, and money manager — without the clutter of most banking tools.

The recognition was validation for a simple bet: that personal-finance software did not need to be complicated. Bluecoins kept building on that idea — fast, offline-first entry, honest reports, and privacy by design, with no bank login.

Both honors still anchor the app’s story today. The Editor’s Choice badge and the CNN quote remain on the Play Store listing, alongside the milestone that followed a few years later: 1M+ downloads on Google Play.
